John was a butcher by trade and after the wedding he and Ann settled in Pool Street in Bodmin. As far as can be confirmed they had only the one child - JOHN OLIVER - born on 8th February, 1835 when Ann was about 44 years of age, and five years after their marriage. It is of course possible that they had other children who did not survive long, and this has still to be investigated. Ann's family came from St Mabyn and it would be interesting to know why they left there and moved to Bodmin, and why she was of such mature age when she married. She was the eldest of four daughters so perhaps she had been caring for her parents. I don't suppose that we will ever know. John died on 10th April, 1844, at the age of 46 of, according to his death certificate, enteritis.
He and Ann had just the one child, a son John Oliver KERNICK born 5 years after their marriage, when Ann was about 43 years old. Somewhat old for a first child! There is a record in the St. Tudy register of the birth of a daughter - Mary Jane - to Ann and John Carniack (butcher) on ? but whether this refers to my John and Ann is any bodies guess!!
